Tls,
Just upload the related WP codes to your host. Say you customized a theme to your liking then upload it to wp-content/themes. Hope this helps. Your biggest manual for online business at http://obwiki.net |

Got it. Thanks for the quick reply.
By the way, you really should be charging for this. It's a great help. Good luck on all your online ventures. |

RE: How do I upload to my host server after I've tested?
Once I am finished on the localhost, do I upload after specifying a sql database name on my remote server?
You seem to have answered this but I cannot find the instructions. Thank you for a very valuable guide to creating a local test bed. |

RE: How do I upload to my host server after I've tested?
You're right. Upload or port all the codes (codebase, themes or plugins) to server. Assuming you're talking about Wordpress, remember NOT to upload/overwrite wp-config.php the one on your server.
We strictly upload the codes only since SQL database is a lot more trickier to port. A very good habit to have is to backup all relevant files and databases on your server before you go ahead with any of this. It will save you lots of frustrations and anguish as you go along playing with anything like this. As for the files, I prefer to do it this way - go to your server cPanel's File Manager, pick the right folder say "wordpress", do a "Compress". With this you only bother with only one zip file rather than a bunch of folders and files. If anything went wrong, you just decompress it and you're back to before. As for mysql, you can use cPanel's backup and restore or mysql's export and import. Your biggest manual for online business at http://obwiki.net |
